OK, so this is my first attempt at this 'bloggy' thing, so wish me luck. Who knows maybe I'll be tweeting and on facebook next ... but really I doubt it.
We had a really great time in Thailand, and the wedding was a really fun part of it! Aside from the wedding, which was way more fun than I expected, we had a great time with family and friends. Pin's family was great! I was really suprised that anyone from here would make such a long journey to attend a wedding, but we had a fun contingent from the US join Pin's family and friends there for the festivities. We never sent out invitations (so don't feel left out) but told anyone they were welcome to join us. Ron (bros) and Marlynne, Deb (sis) and Ben, Stan and Adella Laband from Santa Barbara, Greg Nagler came in from China, and Por Robinson who lives here (Ventura) but is from a village that is only about 15 miles from Pin's, all made the journey to join us in the adventure.
The wedding day was the April 14th which coincided with the Thai New Years water festival called Songkron. It's really a three day water war and it was way more fun than any of us imagined! I really hadn't laughed so hard in ages. Getting nailed with a bucket of cold water on a hot day feels pretty good, and it's down right fun when you are armed with your own bucket.
Trips to Nong Khai, which is up on the Mekong River on the Laos border, Railay Beach in Krabi (one of the most beautiful places on earth), Kata Beach in Phuket, Pataya, the Ban Chiang ( a world heritage archiological site near Udon Thani where artifacs from a Bronze age (>5000 years ago) civilization have been discovered, and Arawan bat caves were all a lot of fun too!
